The Harley Street Medical Area is made up of an array of fantastic businesses, organisations and practices. Each month, we spend some time getting to know one of the people that call Harley Street home. This month we are meeting with Chetan Bhanot, General Manager at The Mandeville Hotel.
Can you tell us a little bit about your work at the hotel?
Working at hotel is exciting as no two days are similar. My work at the hotel involves regularly analysing the business, financial management, focus on taking care of our guests and team, project management, and team development. It also involves working on revenue strategy, budget planning, hotel refurbishment projects and implementing the business plan for the hotel. Communicating with guests, team members, owners, partners and suppliers effectively is an important part of my work. My work also involves proficiently executing all operational requirements and ensuring high quality of service and product as all times.
In my role I also make an effort to keep myself abreast with the latest trends, current business affairs in the professional field.
How did you get to where you are today?
After passing my school, I studied Hotel Management and also did a degree in History and Economics. I started my professional career with Hilton as Management Trainee and did my MBA in marketing. After working with Hilton, I worked with IHG, JW Marriott and NH Hotels. I had the opportunity of managing the UK portfolio of NH Hotels. After leaving NH Hotels, I worked as Cluster General Manager and managed The Bentley and Heston Hyde Hotel. Currently I am working at The Mandeville and it is a great privilege to work with such wonderful owners and team at Mandeville.
How has Covid-19 impacted your organisation?
The impact of Covid-19 has been overwhelming for us. It has been prolonged suffering, but now with the vaccine, the end is in sight. It has also been an experience where we have realised how resilient we can be as humans and as a team. The support of the owners of Mandeville has been relentless, and we have stuck together.
What do you like most about the area?
I love Marylebone and the surrounding area. What I like to most about the area is the feeling of a village in the centre of the city with a strong sense of community. I love the quirkiness.
What are your thoughts on the future of the Harley Street Area?
The future of Harley street great as it is well established and well known for private specialists in medicine and surgery. It has a built a reputation over the years around the world which keeps going from strength to strength.
How could a visitor to the area spend their time here?
A visit to the Wallace collection, Queen Mothers Rose Garden Regents Park, Madam Tussauds, Daunts book shop, La Fromagerie Moxon street, Sherlock Holmes Museum. Cadenhead Whisky Shop Chiltern Street, boating on the serpentine,
